Kenneth Calleja is a Maltese artist, lead singer, composer and founder of one of Malta’s rock groups Fire, which has contributed to set the style and sound of local rock music for more than a decade.

Kenneth’s love for music started developing at the early age of ten when the aspiring singer and musician learnt to play the bagpipes and drums with a Pipes and Drums band with his local Scouts Group. His dream of becoming a rock singer came true with his earliest efforts and sincere devotion towards his first band Explicit in the early 90s. Years later he co-founded the band Fire with the aim of focusing on creating classic hard rock original music and the band kicked off their large-scale audience performances as supporting band of Status Quo in 1998. In 2004, Fire launched their first two singles ‘Manhunter’ and ‘Make Believe’ as a run up to the launch of their first album ‘Ignite’ and was invited to be the supporting band for various tribute acts including ‘Boot Led Zeppelin’. In 2006, Fire won Malta’s ‘Battle of the Bands’, and for two consecutive years they were invited to be the supporting band for Krokus, the international band fronted by legendary Maltese singer Mark Storace in concerts in Malta and Gozo. In 2007 Fire secured their spot in a UK tour covering both Manchester and London and confirmed themselves as one of the first small scale local bands to debut their music internationally.

The launch of their second Album ‘Thrill Me’ in September 2009 which Kenneth also co-wrote, got the attention of the international music scene and the band confirmed significant popularity and scored a world distribution deal with the German label ‘Avenue of Allies’. Following, Fire was invited to perform in numerous large scale concerts including the Isle of MTV Music Week, supporting band for tribute act Kiss Forever and Bon Jovi Experience and hosted a series of White Snake & Deep Purple Nights and was invited to launch the opening of The Malta Fashion Awards. With popular original tracks as ‘Thrill Me’, ‘Always There’ and ‘Back Home’ which have become part of Malta’s rock classics and are favourites in Fire’s repertoire, the band became regular guest bands in the annual Farsons Beer Festival attracting local rock audiences and has participated in Notte Magica, Monsters of Rock, BJ’s Music Marathon, The President’s Bikers Music Event, Hard Rock Café Acoustic Jam, Live at Luxol, Teatru Manoel’s Teatru Unplugged, an intimate unplugged rock performance at Malta’s national theatre, as well as  numerous TV performances.

In 2017, Fire was once again invited to be the supporting band for Krokus for the third time during the Rock’n Malta Festival which falls under the auspices of the festivals directorate within the Malta Arts Council.  From rock power ballads to heavy metal tracks, Kenneth is renowned for his impressively dynamic voice and powerful stage presence. His performance as a vocalist in the band and as an artist of rock music is exceptional and over the years
